Disney+ has added a 3D version of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu to its Apple Vision Pro app, giving headset owners a new way to watch the movie at home.

The 2-hour, 14-minute film arrived on Disney+ on September 2 after opening in theaters in May. Its Disney+ listing also includes an IMAX Enhanced presentation with a taller picture during scenes prepared for the expanded frame.

On Vision Pro, viewers with access should see a Watch in 3D option. Disney+ says its 3D catalog varies by country and region, so the option may not appear everywhere.

Two ways to expand the picture

The 3D edition sends a slightly different image to each eye, adding visible depth inside the movie's rectangular frame. It is different from Apple Immersive Video, which surrounds the viewer with 180-degree 3D footage.

IMAX Enhanced changes the frame instead. Disney says its expanded aspect ratio reveals more picture vertically during supported scenes. The two formats bring different parts of the theatrical presentation into Vision Pro's virtual theater.

How to watch

Watching in 3D requires Apple Vision Pro, the Disney+ app for visionOS, a subscription, and access to the 3D edition in the viewer's region. The standard version may still be available when the 3D option is missing.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is streaming now on Disney+. Vision Pro owners can find compatible titles in the app's 3D Collection or choose Watch in 3D from the movie page.
