Meta Glasses Get Spatial Audio and Easier Walking Directions
The update also brings navigation across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, full Mandarin support, and stronger camera safeguards.
Meta’s AI glasses can now make music and podcasts sound more immersive with spatial audio. The latest software update also makes walking directions easier to start and brings them to more places.
Meta lists the changes in the release notes delivered through the Meta AI app. The company says new features can roll out gradually, so they may not appear for everyone at the same time.
Navigation, language, and privacy
Wearers can choose a destination in a map app, tap Share, and select Meta AI. The route then moves to the glasses, which can give each turn through their open-ear speakers.
Walking directions are now available across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, along with select cities in other countries. Meta still labels pedestrian navigation as a beta feature.
The update also makes Mandarin a full device language for controls, calls and messages, media, and Meta AI. That goes beyond live translation because the glasses themselves can now be used in Mandarin.
Meta is also strengthening protection around the capture light. Its AI glasses disable the camera when the light is blocked or physically altered, helping the light keep doing its job of telling people nearby when a photo or video is being taken.
Together, these changes make Meta’s glasses easier to use through an ordinary day: pick a route on your phone, put it away, and keep moving with directions and audio in your ears.
