Samsung previews two more Gemini glasses styles.
The display-free Android XR eyewear pairs a camera, Gemini, and up to nine hours of battery life with two additional designs launching this fall.
Samsung has previewed two more intelligent-eyewear designs created with Google, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker. They extend the developing Android XR lineup with glasses built for daily routines, travel, work, and moments when reaching for a phone gets in the way.
Both designs are built on Android XR and bring Gemini into a camera-equipped frame. Samsung says the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform handles real-time AI assistance, connectivity, touch input, power use, and heat inside the smaller form.
What the glasses can do
Gemini can use the camera to understand what the wearer is looking at, then respond with information or help. Samsung described a set of practical tasks that connect the glasses to the wider Galaxy ecosystem.
- Summarize long messages and read the important parts aloud.
- Translate a conversation and help with directions or nearby places.
- Capture a whiteboard or meeting, then organize the key information in Samsung Notes.
- Share the wearer's point of view during a call or record hands-free video.
- Continue a task with less repetition by using the person's current context.
Samsung rates the glasses for up to nine hours on one charge. The charging case can provide up to seven additional full charges, although actual battery life will depend on the features, apps, network, and connected devices being used.
Two brands, two more looks
The Gentle Monster model uses a slim black frame with a straight upper rim and softly rounded lower edges. Warby Parker's version has an upswept brow and a rich brown finish. These are two more frames for the brands' larger intelligent-eyewear collections, not the complete selection.
Coming this fall
Google says the first Android XR intelligent eyewear will be audio glasses launching this fall. These display-free models deliver Gemini's help through audio instead of showing information on an in-lens display. Google is developing display glasses as a separate type of intelligent eyewear.
The direction is clear: Samsung and Google want smart glasses to look like something people choose to wear, not a computer that happens to sit on a face. Working with established eyewear brands—and offering fuller collections rather than one or two frames—gives that idea a much better chance of fitting into everyday life.
