About the app.

The NBA app brings live games, scores, highlights, and stats into a workspace that can spread across the space in front of you. Instead of choosing between the broadcast and supporting information, you can keep more of the game visible at the same time.

Its standout feature is the live court view, which turns game data into a small three-dimensional court you can inspect as the action unfolds. Immersive games go further by placing you close to the arena and creating a stronger sense of being there than a conventional broadcast can provide.

The mix of everyday league coverage and special spatial viewing gives the app a reason to stay installed throughout the season. Live and on-demand game streams require NBA League Pass, and blackouts or other restrictions can still apply, while scores, stats, and supported spatial views make the free app useful between broadcasts.

The NBA began developing for visionOS when Apple announced the platform at WWDC23, building on a long history of pioneering spatial experiences across platforms and touchpoints. The team’s goal is to bring the game as close to fans as possible.

Why the NBA built its Vision Pro experience

We started with a blank slate and rethought how fans could engage with sports content in a truly native spatial experience. Our earliest concept brought together multiple live game streams, synced data panels, 3D visualizations, and fully immersive video. Live court re-creations and Apple Immersive Video bring that idea to life by giving fans new ways to follow the game and feel closer to the action.

Working alongside Apple, which shares our commitment to engaging fans around the world, has helped us bring some amazing ideas to life.
