Bambu Lab will fully reveal its H3C 3D printer (opens in a new tab) on Tuesday, November 3, at 9 a.m. Eastern, 6 a.m. Pacific. The company has been previewing the nine-tool machine since October 23.

The latest teaser adds the AMS 3H (opens in a new tab), a sealed filament system with nine spots ready to go. Filament is the plastic fed into the printer, so that means nine rolls can stay loaded inside the enclosure.

What’s a tool changer?

On a printer that switches colors through one nozzle, each change means pulling one filament out, feeding another in, and flushing out the old plastic. That takes time and leaves waste.

A tool changer keeps several printing tools ready and picks up the one the job needs. Keeping materials in separate tools can cut down on that flushing and the wait between swaps.

What Bambu has shown

  • Nine tools. The first teaser shows nine numbered docks, each with a light and a filament tube running in from above.
  • A rack that lifts out of the way. Bambu’s animation shows the stored tools moving up so you can see the print taking shape below them.
  • Different nozzle sizes. The watch example uses a 0.2 mm nozzle for fine details and 0.4 mm nozzles for its rigid case and soft strap. A smaller nozzle lays down finer lines.
  • Very soft TPU. Bambu says the H3C prints TPU 75A and 90A together in one build. TPU is a rubbery plastic, and 75A is the softer of the two. The shoe preview pairs a soft upper with a springy section underneath.
  • Hardened nozzles. Bambu labels the tools HRC 55+, a measure of hardness, and says they are hardened by default.

Where it fits

Bambu’s H2C already swaps hotends (opens in a new tab), the heated parts that melt the filament. It has six interchangeable hotends plus a fixed nozzle. The H3C takes that count to nine tools.

Price and availability

Bambu has not yet announced the price, build size, shipping date, or whether orders open at the reveal. The full tool-changing mechanism and compatibility with other filament systems also remain to be detailed.
