Snap has named Robert Downey Jr. honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer for Specs (opens in a new tab), its see-through AR glasses.

According to Snap’s announcement (opens in a new tab), he’ll help develop new Lenses, the apps that run on Specs, and work with the team on hardware, original content, and in-person experiences.

His first project is a series of short films released today. In Out With the Old, Downey Jr. clears a table full of gadgets before putting on Specs. Other episodes focus on golf, drawing, and watching a show in bed.

Specs put digital screens and tools in the room around you while you can still see through the lenses. You use your hands and voice to control them.

The campaign will reach TV viewers, too. Snap says it debuts during the Knicks–76ers game on October 20, with an episode airing during Game 1 of the World Series on October 23.

Specs are available to preorder (opens in a new tab) in the U.S., UK, and France, with U.S. pricing starting at $2,195. Snap lists shipping as starting this fall.
