Bambu Lab announced the S1, its first handheld 3D scanner (opens in a new tab), on October 12. It is due in November 2026.

For makers, the useful part is being able to start with something you already own. A scan gives you its shape in 3D, so you have a reference to design around.

Think of a holder that fits a curved handle, or a new housing around an existing part. Scanning can save you from measuring and drawing every curve by hand.

What we know so far

Bambu’s teaser shows a handheld device with buttons and a wheel beside the grip. The company is promising ease of use, but has not shared its scanning accuracy, speed, or software details yet.

That includes how scans will move into Bambu’s printing tools. A scan can need cleanup before you can use it, and Bambu has not shown that process for the S1.

Price and availability

Bambu has not announced a price or an exact November release date. Its S1 page (opens in a new tab) has a sign-up form for launch updates.
