PICO Delays Space Pro Launch to the Fourth Quarter
PICO says it needs more time for a major software upgrade and will expand testing before releasing its new spatial headset later this year.
PICO has moved the Space Pro launch from September 2 to the fourth quarter of 2026, giving its team more time to make a major upgrade to the headset's software experience.
The company announced the change on August 24 through its verified Bilibili account (opens in a new tab). PICO did not provide an exact date within the fourth-quarter window.
Why PICO Delayed It
PICO says the hardware and software have reached a high level of completion. During final testing, however, the team found what it calls a new opportunity that it wants to include in the first release.
The announcement does not explain what that opportunity is. PICO says pursuing it requires more time for a major upgrade to the software experience.
More Testing Before Launch
PICO plans to expand its Pioneer Experience program over the coming months. More users will get early access to Space Pro and provide feedback while the company continues refining the headset.
The delay comes five days after PICO announced a September 2 event (opens in a new tab) for Space Pro. The company has already said the headset combines dual 4K micro-OLED displays, custom spatial silicon, and PICO OS 6, but price and initial sales regions remain unannounced.
