Valve’s Steam Frame Setup Videos Surface Ahead of Launch
The clips show the headset’s box, mobile sign-in, PC wireless adapter, fit controls, and accessories while price and release timing remain unannounced.

Eight finished Steam Frame welcome videos appeared on Valve’s public media server on August 19, offering the clearest look yet at how owners will unbox and set up the standalone VR headset.
Steam Hardware Updates, an account unaffiliated with Valve, found the clips after they appeared in an ARM Steam Client update. The account said Valve quickly pulled that update, but the eight videos remained available from Valve’s server.
Setup
The videos cover unboxing, fit and comfort, lens-spacing adjustment, Steam sign-in, the wireless PC adapter, ergonomic accessories, controller hand straps, and an alternate head strap.
The sign-in guide shows an owner using the Steam mobile app to approve the headset. Another clip plugs the wireless adapter into a PC, enters an authorization code inside Steam, and opens a library that includes both VR and conventional games.
Fit receives three separate guides. One shows how to position and tighten the standard strap. Another turns the dial on top of the headset to move the lenses for the wearer’s eye spacing. The accessory videos attach hand straps to the controllers and replace the headset’s rear strap.
That mix reflects Valve’s plan for Steam Frame. Its developer documentation describes a streaming-first headset that can also run VR and non-VR games on its own through SteamOS. The setup videos make both paths visible before the hardware reaches customers.
Launch Details
Valve said in June that Steam Frame and Steam Machine would ship this summer. It has not announced Steam Frame’s price, order date, or exact shipping day.
The videos do not confirm any of those details. Their finished presentation, retail packaging, and complete welcome flow do suggest that Valve has moved beyond explaining the product and is preparing people to use it.
