Siri AI Gets New App Capabilities and Skills in visionOS 27.3

Apple’s new developer preview lets any app add Siri AI support, with skills that help Siri carry out more complex requests across apps on Vision Pro.

Apple opened its Siri AI developer preview (opens in a new tab) on November 3, giving Vision Pro app makers a way to connect their own features to Siri and teach it to handle requests with several steps.

Siri already works with third-party apps. What’s new is that its AI features can go beyond Apple’s preset categories, such as messaging. Developers can offer actions specific to their apps, like checking a delivery or booking a table.

One request, several apps

Say you’ve saved a pair of sneakers in a shopping app and want to send them to your partner. In Apple’s example (opens in a new tab), Siri finds the shoes, looks up your partner in Contacts, and sends the details through the messaging app you name. All from one request.

For Vision Pro users, that could mean fewer windows to open and fewer menus to work through. Name a supported app in your request, and Siri can use it in the background.

New app skills (opens in a new tab) give Siri written guidance for longer jobs. Apple’s flight-app example tells Siri to ask where you’re going, when you leave, and which flight you’re taking, then add it to your itinerary. The app maker chooses which features Siri can use and explains how they fit together.

Apple’s apps are getting more actions too

Across its platforms, Apple is expanding Siri actions in apps including Maps, Messages, Photos, Files, and Safari. Its examples include finding a café you visited last week and archiving files you haven’t opened for over a year. You can ask Siri what it can do in each app.

When you can use it

Vision Pro developers can test these third-party integrations in the visionOS 27.3 beta, using development builds or internal TestFlight testing. They aren’t available in App Store apps or external TestFlight builds yet.

Apple says these integrations will start reaching customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in spring 2027.
