Orbble turns a social feed into something you can grab.
The new Vision Pro app fills your room with voice, photo, and video updates you can reach for, listen to, and watch.
Most social apps ask you to look down a feed. Orbble puts the updates in the room instead. Open the new Apple Vision Pro app and translucent orbs begin drifting around you, each holding something another person has shared.
I checked out the first release, and the idea works. Reach for an orb and you can listen to or watch the update inside it. Voice, photo, and video posts feel less like items in a list and more like small objects that have arrived in your space.
A feed with a sense of place
The spatial audio is an important part of the experience. A person's voice stays connected to the orb it came from, so different updates feel located around the room instead of coming from one flat panel in front of you.
Orbble still includes familiar social tools. You can react, reply, follow conversations, and filter what is around you. The difference is that looking, reaching, and listening replace much of the usual scrolling.
The little details sell it
One of my favorite moments happens when you leave the app: the orbs lose their float and fall to the ground. It is a small animation, but it gives the interface a physical logic and makes the exit feel like part of the experience.
Orbble launched free in early access on July 21. Video orbs, longer recordings, and 3D spatial portraits are currently unlocked while its Pro subscription is not yet live.
Spatial Insider rating: Worth Trying. It is an early social network, so the people who join will matter as much as the interface. But the core idea is already a clever example of how a familiar category can feel different when it is designed for the room from the start.
