visionOS 27 will be publicly available starting September 14, following its June preview and a summer of beta testing.

Apple's visionOS 27 page (opens in a new tab) now lists “available starting 9.14,” confirming when Vision Pro owners can download the next major software update.

Siri AI

Siri AI brings natural, back-and-forth conversations to Vision Pro. You can place Siri anywhere in your room and look at it to start speaking. Visual Intelligence lets you ask about physical objects around you or content in an open window.

Apple says Siri can also use personal context to find an older photo or return to an article you started on another device. It can take action in apps, including editing a message or summarizing a page in Safari.

A dedicated Siri app keeps your conversations together so you can start on iPhone and continue on Vision Pro. Apple says Siri AI is rolling out in English, with usage limits that may apply.

Spatial Experiences

Apple's preview shows curved windows for Safari, Freeform, and Apple TV Multiview. They bend around the viewer, like a curved monitor, instead of keeping every window on a flat plane.

Panoramas can also become scenes with depth and serve as personal Environments. Apple is adding Thórsmörk, an Icelandic landscape lit by the northern lights.

Safari also supports immersive websites with 360-degree backgrounds that surround you. A website can become a place you enter, extending beyond its browser window.

Everyday controls are changing too. Looking at a notification expands it, while the redesigned Control Center groups notifications, playback controls, and Environments for quicker access.

Mac Features

A new Mac Virtual Display widget lets you connect to your Mac with a tap, even when its lid is closed. You can place the widget wherever you want in your space.

For creators, Spatial Preview brings 3D models from the Mac into the room. You can inspect a design around you while adjusting its materials and colors in real time. Quick Look also adds annotations and ways to inspect a model's underlying structure.

Launch Details

Once visionOS 27 arrives on September 14, open Settings, then General and Software Update to check for the download (opens in a new tab). Apple recommends backing up Vision Pro before updating and keeping the battery sufficiently charged or connected to power.
