Waddle 2.0 Puts Mars Around You on Vision Pro
Waddle 2.0 uses real NASA panoramas and a floating map to visit Perseverance rover stops across Jezero Crater.
Choose one of Perseverance’s rover stops, and the rocky landscape of Jezero Crater stretches in every direction.
Perseverance, its wheel tracks, and the rocky terrain can appear within arm’s reach. The map and controls disappear when you want to focus on the view.
Developer Berk Mervan Erenci released the Mars update on August 3 and shared it with the Vision Pro community (opens in a new tab). Waddle (opens in a new tab) costs $9.99 in the US App Store (opens in a new tab), and version 2.0 requires visionOS 26.0 or later.
How Mars mode works
Waddle began as a way to explore Google Street View on Vision Pro. Mars mode keeps that tap-to-teleport idea but replaces city streets with rover stops, each tied to its sol, the mission’s count of Martian days, and landing-site coordinates.
The stops use photographs rather than a rendered environment. Each view is still a constructed panorama. NASA’s first high-definition 360-degree view from Perseverance (opens in a new tab) joined 142 individual images captured by the rover into one scene on Earth.
Moving through Jezero means selecting another rover stop and waiting a moment for its panorama to render.
Why it feels convincing
Seeing Perseverance up close and tracing its wheel tracks across the ground is incredibly cool. The rover gives the panoramas a sense of scale and makes experiencing Mars this way genuinely amazing.
NASA says a river flowed into a lake inside Jezero about 3.5 billion years ago. Its ancient delta may preserve evidence of past microbial life, giving every Perseverance panorama (opens in a new tab) a place in a much larger mission.
Keeping those views connected to Perseverance’s route turns NASA’s image archive into a journey through the mission.
What is next
Erenci says more Mars locations are coming, while SharePlay, guided tours, Wikipedia links, and custom trips remain on the roadmap.
