Meta Connect 2026 will show what’s next for building on Quest

What Meta has confirmed

Mark Zuckerberg will lead the Meta Connect keynote on Sept. 23. The Developer State of the Union and technical sessions follow on Sept. 24.

Meta says the wider event will cover its latest work in AI, AI glasses, and VR. For Quest developers, the first announced topics are SDK updates, AI development workflows, controller-free interactions, and new ways to grow revenue.

AI moves into the workflow

That wording matters. Meta is not only pointing to AI features inside apps. It is also pointing to AI as part of how developers build them.

Meta recently showed one example with XR Operator (opens in a new tab), an experimental tool that lets AI agents see, control, and test a running Quest app. Meta has not said whether XR Operator will be part of the Connect sessions, but it shows where the company is already heading.

Controllers are not the only input

Controller-free interaction is also getting its own place on the agenda. That points to more work on experiences people can use without holding a controller.

Meta has not shared the session details yet, so it is too early to know which input methods or developer tools will be shown. The full session list should make that clearer.

The business side is on the agenda

For developers, better tools only solve part of the problem. An app also needs a path to reach people and make money.

Meta says Connect will cover new ways to grow revenue, but it has not explained what those options are. The details could matter as much as any new SDK because they shape whether small teams can keep building for Quest.
